So you're thinking about doing a safari? Cool! Most zones are open October 15th through June 15th. When monsoon hits (that's June to October), we can only keep Jhirna and Dhela running. Trust me, you don't want to be out there during heavy rains anyway.
All the zones have pretty much the same animals wandering around - tigers, elephants, deer, the usual suspects. But if you ask me which one looks the best? Dhikala, hands down. I mean, the others are fine, but Dhikala's got these views that'll make your jaw drop.
Morning or evening safari - both are 4 hours long. I personally prefer morning because animals are more active, but some folks swear by evening. Your call really.
Fair warning though - once you book, you're locked in. Can't swap out people's names, can't cancel. I know it sucks, but the park service is super strict about this stuff. We've tried arguing with them before, doesn't work.
Elephant rides used to be a thing, but not anymore. Some court case shut it down maybe 2-3 years back? The rangers still ride them around for work, which always makes tourists a bit jealous honestly.
Here's something that catches people off guard - want a jeep safari in Dhikala? You gotta sleep there too. No exceptions. Stay outside the park? Canter only. Makes no sense to me either, but that's the rule they've got.
Speaking of jeeps vs canters - jeeps win every time. Way quieter so animals don't run away, go places canters can't reach, and you're not stuck listening to some random family's loud conversation the whole time. The 4-wheel drive thing helps with those rough patches too.
